Darlene, Albuquerque Mayor Martin Chavez, and his wonderful rescue dog, Dukes.  Albuquerque is The Duke City, hence the dog's royal name.

The meeting took place on June 27, 2008.

Here is Mayor Martin Chavez and Dukes.  Their loving bond is very obvious.

Darlene and Kari Winters (www.ShelterPetsInk.com) during the meeting with the Mayor of Albuquerque.  Kari is actively involved as a volunteer to help the Albuquerque Shelters and Kennel Kompadres.

Darlene and Dukes play "kissy-face."  Dukes is Albuquerque Mayor, Martin Chavez's adopted Shelter Dog who goes everywhere the Mayor goes.

Darlene says, " Dukes is a sweetheart and the Mayor has his heart in the right place.  I'd vote for him - but I don't live there!"
